6 Years of Camilleri Appointments!
On May 22nd of this year, I threw a party to celebrate six years of running Camilleri Appointments. Instinctively I felt it was the right thing to do. Many I know who are operating in the world of transport are finding the environment tough going, so the timing of bringing everyone together was definitely ideal!
Besides, I feel we need to occasionally take the time to press the pause button to celebrate what we have achieved! We can spend a lot of time looking to the future, trying to make predictions of what will happen next, so living in the moment is a luxury we should allow ourselves from time to time.
The planning started towards the end of last year. I was keen to have stunning views of the City of London, where I spent a great deal of my formative career years. I also needed to ensure that my guests who run busy transport operations across the UK were made to feel valued and, most of all, thanked for their unfaltering support over the six years that Camilleri Appointments has been in business. When senior people go out of their way to attend something in person, it needs to be good. I wanted to ensure that the catering and overall vibe was up to scratch and inclusive. The furthest someone had travelled for the event was Norway, so I was determined to make the effort!
As a sponsor to some very important causes, Women in Transport and Rebuilding Futures Alliance, I was keen to use my event as a platform to educate and inform my guests of how hard these two charities work, and how important it is that they receive on-going support, particularly during these economically unstable times. It was great to have key members of both of these charities join me.
My two coaches Helen Cowper and Iain Smith, who onboard my permanent placements, were kind enough to say a few words and I was overwhelmed by their support. They both act as a vital, impartial sounding board that my hires need when they first land in a new role. They are also my guides and advisors as we navigate this crazy world together!
The turn out for this event far surpassed my expectations. It is very special to see so many of the people you trust and respect together in one room. In fact, it’s priceless! Despite being a small business, deliberate by design, it really shows that you can have a wide reach and considerable impact whilst staying true to your values. My gift to my network was the opportunity for them to catch up with old friends and make new ones. It’s safe to say, it worked, and nothing gave me more joy than pausing every now and then to watch the event play out. I feel grateful every day for making the decision to set up my business. The 22nd of May was a true celebration and indication that successful recruitment businesses are relationship led.
Thank you especially to TeamBA for their incredible organisation and meticulous planning skills and support over the last six months and also to One Hundred Shoreditch who really know how to throw a party!
